It’s only going to get worse as the last of the survivors—and soon enough, their children—die off over the next decade. Isn’t this shit important enough to teach in school?  But then, sometimes I think the only reason U.S. schoolkids are taught about the Civil Rights movement, or even slavery and abolition, is because of the imperitives of Black History Month.  HOLY SHIT!! I thought Germany was supposed to be on top of this shit? Whatever happened to Never Again? I come from a Jewish family. My mom forced me to go to religious classes after school from about 5th-10th grade to try to get me to appreciate our religion. This kind of backfired and made me realize how non-religious I am, lol. However, there is one thing I appreciated from my experiences there. They spent a lot of time talking about the Holocaust. At the time, I was annoyed with how much they talked about it, but in retrospect, it was pretty valuable. Especially since they had also brought in actual Holocaust survivors to speak with us a few times. So when I hear stuff like this? It makes me very sad. People need to realize how important history is and learn from it so we don’t make the same mistakes in the future.
